Step 2: Who to Help
Congratulations! You have decided to volunteer. It’s a great idea to help your children develop new skills, strengthen your family, and support your community, but it’s sometimes difficult to know where to start.
- What type of non-profit should you serve?
- Where can you find these places?
- Are they appropriate for your kids?
- Which of many causes would be best to support?
There are so many people in need of your assistance. To help your family better understand some of the community’s challenges and needs and decide who to help, we have divided the volunteering opportunities into different topic areas.
Each topic contains an introduction with factual information, ideas of ways your family can help, reflection questions and/or activities, book lists, and website links for more information.
After you review these resources, we hope that you will act upon good ideas – whether ours or your own – and login to our website to find specific places in your area in need of your family’s time and attention. Thanks again for helping!
