Here is an experience submitted by Linette Laureano of Florida.  Thanks, Linette!!

My name is Linette and I have been involved in volunteer work for the community since I was a child. I am a single mom of 3 children and I have included my children in volunteer work for the community the past 6 ½ years. I have a 14 year-old daughter, 10 year-old son, and a 6 year-old son. Every year during Thanksgiving we give out food to the homeless and to families in need during the Thanksgiving holiday. Our church has donated meals that we have prepared to distribute to those in need as well as provided can goods to the families. During the Christmas holiday, I work alongside with Toys for Tots. After their distribution, whatever toys are remaining they contact me and I get a group of people from my church to gather the toys and set them up in our church. We then have a toy drive for families in need. We have had the privilege to help over 400 children every year with toys from the Central Florida area including Tampa and Deland. We have shipped toys out to Chicago, Illinois to help single moms out there.

And another very cool experience here from Luanne Goffnett from Michigan, who has volunteered with her family at Orphanage Outreach in the Dominican Republic.  Luanne says:

You have talents and gifts, why not share them? A volunteer experience with Orphanage Outreach will provide you the opportunity to share your talents with underprivileged children in the Dominican Republic. For the past several years we have facilitated volunteer groups from the Mount Pleasant area to maximize their impact on the Monte Cristi community, and we look forward to helping your group as well.
