Heather Jack Biography

Heather Jack founded The Volunteer Family in 2003, a nonprofit organization that helps families, especially families with children, find opportunities that they can do together.  The organization is now a national organization which has enabled over 20,000 volunteers to choose from among 30,000 opportunities in their own neighborhoods.

In 2009, Ms. Jack also founded Future Philanthropists, which teaches youth about nonprofits and entrusts them to give away real money to nonprofit organizations.   Over the past two years, with the support of the Highland Street Foundation, this program has involved over 200 teens who have collectively chosen where to donate $165,000 to their local communities.

Ms. Jack currently holds a position as Managing Partner of Massachusetts Nonprofit Support Services, where she personally consults with 3-4 charities per year.  Her experience includes working for a variety of nonprofits, including community foundations and family foundations.  She has taught classes in nonprofit management at both Tufts and Babson University and has been featured as a speaker and presenter at several different venues.  She is on the board of directors of Leadership MetroWest and the MetroWest Nonprofit Network.

Ms. Jack produces a local TV show called “Caring Kids,” through WACA TV and has appeared in publications such as Family Circle Magazine, Better Homes and Gardens, and the New York Times. She has written articles for the Women’s Business Journal, Parents and Kids and MassNonprofit.net and has appeared as a frequent guest speaker on RadioDisney, WBZ News 1030 and Channel 4 News.  She is a WeTV Women on their Way finalist, and was selected as Parenting Magazine’s Mom Congress representative for Massachusetts in 2011.

Ms. Jack is a graduate of Middlebury College and holds an MBA in Social Entrepreneurship from Babson College.  She lives in Massachusetts with her husband and two children, aged 9 and 6.
