The Volunteer Family’s Board of Directors is comprised of a variety of talented individuals. We are grateful to each of their contributions and areas of expertise.
Ellen Giannuzzi
Ellen Giannuzzi is an attorney with over twenty years of experience in the corporate and non-profit sectors. In addition to her legal work, Ellen has been involved with a number of non-profit boards and has been an active volunteer at her children’s schools. Ellen currently serves as a trustee at The Winsor School, a member of the Parents’ Leadership Council at Brown University, and as a member of the foundation board at Excel Academy, a charter school in East Boston.
Amanda Sonis Glynn
Amanda Sonis Glynn is the Director of the Harvard Public Service Network (PSN) and Center for Public Interest Careers (CPIC) at Harvard College, where she supports more than 50 student-led service groups and oversees multiple fellowship and internship programs. She was formerly a Skadden Fellow and staff attorney at the Medical-Legal Partnership for Children at Boston Medical Center, which provides legal services to pediatric patient families. Amanda’s fellowship focused on the civil legal needs of patients in the Adolescent Center. Amanda is a member of the board of Temple Shir Tikva in Wayland, MA, where she serves as the Co-Chair of Social Action, and is a graduate of Tufts University and Harvard Law School.
Debbie Levy
Debbie Levy is the co-owner of Sterling Services, Inc. She has been involved in this business full time and/or part time for the last 20+ years. Her property management business involves providing leadership and guidance to approximately 25 boards of trustees, i.e. volunteers at their respective communities. Debbie has two daughters with whom she volunteered
most holidays serving dinner to the homeless or in a local nursing home to
share some holiday spirit and good cheer. Her eldest daughter, Alissa, teaches 3rd grade in low-income section of New York City in a special needs classroom.
Her youngest, Michelle, is studying to be a pre-school teacher;currently she is a sophomore at Syracuse University. Debbie and her husband are proud to have caught the spirit of “giving back” and have chosen to make that part of their everyday life to share their passion for learning and social justice with this next generation.
Nancy Lippe
Nancy Lippe was previously the Program Officer at the Los Altos Community Foundation, where she served as staff representative to Foundation committees, sponsored nonprofits and developed/directed community outreach programs, including E-Cubed Youth Philanthropy, a youth grantmaking and community service program to teach local teens grades 7-12 about philanthropy and its many facets. Nancy is currently the reporter for “Tuesday Talks” at the Cambridge Community Foundation, the Board President at the Civic Education Project, the trail Steward, City of Concord Trails Committee and a Steering Committee Member at the Musketaquid Arts and Environment Program in Concord, MA.
Richard P. Mandel
Richard is an Associate Professor of law at Babson College where he has previously served as both the Acting and Associate Dean of the Undergraduate School. Prof. Mandel is also Of Counsel to the law firm of Bowditch and Dewey and has been a practicing attorney for 35 years specializing in corporate, tax and securities law as they apply to small businesses. His publications include a number of articles and book chapters regarding entrepreneurial law. At Babson he teaches courses in business law, tax, finance and meteorology, advises student businesses and also serves as the advisor for a number of student organizations including the Babson Players. Prof. Mandel holds a JD from Harvard Law School and a BA in government and meteorology from Cornell University.
Diane Brooks Ring
Diane is Director of Furnishing Options, a furniture and household goods donation program of Employment Options, Inc. in Marlborough, Mass. Her professional experience includes a variety of roles for non-profit, for-profit, public sector and higher education organizations. Diane is a 2007 graduate of the Leadership MetroWest program and a current member of its Alumni Association Steering Committee. Her past volunteer experience includes membership on the Fundraising Committee and Board of Directors of The Friends of The Ashland, Mass. Public Library, and being a mentor for Jewish Vocational Services. Diane holds a B.A. from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, and a Certificate in Human Resources Management from Bentley University in Waltham, Mass. She lives in Ashland with her husband Martin.
Heather Rogers
Heather is the Director of Finance and Administration at the Boston Children’s Chorus. She is a graduate of the University of New Hampshire and holds a Master of Science in Finance from Suffolk University. A Certified Nonprofit Accounting Professional, Heather brings over a decade of experience to nonprofit organizations, including corporate finance as well as nonprofit finance and accounting, operations management, IT and database management and revenue recognition. Heather is a 2009 graduate of the Leadership MetroWest Academy, and resides in Ashland with her husband and two daughters.
Grier Tumas
Grier Tumas currently works at Bridgespan Group as an associate consultant. A recent graduate from Harvard University, Grier was the president of the Special Olympics and a member of the Eta Theta Chapter of the Kappa Kappa Gamma. Grier has worked for New Sector Alliance and Citizens Schools, in Junior Achievement in Argentina and for the Cambridge Community Foundation as an intern and a teacher. Grier was a State Farm Insurance Northeast Zone Advisory Board Member, where she developed bylaws, reviewed grant proposals and awarded $60,000 in grants.
